Thursday 110113

WOD

Press 1 – 1 – 1 – 1 – 1

Push Press 3 – 3 – 3 – 3 – 3

Push Jerk 5 – 5 – 5 – 5 – 5

For today, for each movement keep the same weight for each set. For example, you may use 135# for the Press, 185# for the push-press, and 215# for the push jerk.

I asked Manny if this was covering some new ink. He told me no, it was covering the rope burn he got from the skill session the other day. That's kind of like a CrossFit tattoo!

Motivation comes from different places for people. I've seen some cool things in some of your log book covers that you use to keep you motivated. Sometimes folks hang "before" pictures on the fridge or in the pantry to keep motivated. Many like to watch a video of a fire-breather doing a WOD in a ridiculous time to get there. Maybe it's a specific song that get's the job done. I searched for and finally found some pictures of me during the rope climb at the MBS challenge to place in strategic places to use as motivation (thanks for the pictures Ryan!).

What do you use to motivate you?

  1. At first cute summer clothes is what motivated me! These days my motivation comes from you guys and watching videos from the girls of CF Santa Cruz. Now I just really want to apart of that smaller percentage of truely fit people.

  2. My motivation comes from seeing how crappy I feel when I don’t come to the gym for too long, or slip off my diet. Or those 5 extra lbs I saw on the scale this morning after a whole week of vacation! Time to get back on track!

  3. My motivation is my kids! My parents were not the most active people and I want to be able to keep up with my kids and be a good example as they get older and be able to hike a fourteener on a whim and not die. Successfully hiking Longs Peak is still motivating me to keep at it. Also, being surrounded by everyone’s positive attitude at the box keeps me pushing at every WOD. I never thought I would be able to get a pull up…and oh look now I can. Now for those darn double unders…ugh!

  4. my motivation…I know where I was 8 months ago….so excited to see where I will be 8 months from now. Stronger, Faster, Fitter…
It goes without saying that each athlete at CrossFit is a motivator as well!

  5. For me it’s an emotional need. I know how crazy I feel if I don’t get those endorphins. Standing on the top podium in an athletic event for the first time in my life was pretty motivating also. I’m totally addicted–plain and simple.
