A Note From Coach Jonny
Today was a really good day! I got to coach the very first on-line CrossFit Evolve workout ever! Now, all things being equal, trying to coach a workout through video is less than ideal. But I also recognize that we’re all in a less than ideal situation and this is the best we can do right now. After it was done, I realized that it wasn’t about the workout at all. We had over 20 people login, we got to talk, we got to laugh, we got to see each other, we got to fitness together, and for that hour, even though we were all in different places, it felt really close to everyone being in the gym. And that was great!
If you want a little perspective on this whole thing, grab yourself a copy of Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl and dig in. Here’s a quote that really should resonate with all of us right now:
When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.
The situation we’re in is out of our control. However, how we choose to respond to it is 100% in our control. It is our choice. It’s your choice. And how you choose to respond is going to dictate how you are at the other side of this thing.
Logging on to your computer or phone to workout may not sound like a good time. And it definitely isn’t the same as rolling into the gym. But it’s something that is way better than nothing. And I will be the first to tell you, seeing everyone today absolutely made my day, and I hope everyone who was on the Nooner feels the same way!
DO NOT choose to disengage. DO NOT choose to sit around. DO NOT choose to mope your way through this. DO choose to challenge yourself to change. DO choose to try something that’s better than doing nothing. DO choose to look for bright spots in all of this.
