RDLs Vs. Conventional Deadlift.

Today’s strength work has the Romanian Deadlift (RDL) while the conditioning piece has conventional deadlifts. Yes, they are both deadlifts but there are some important differences for you to be aware of. Below is a video from CompTrain discussing the differences. Pay careful attention to the difference in knee bend between RDLs and regular deadlifts. As the weight increases during today’s RDL work you will be tempted to bend your knees more, turning the lift into a regular deadlift. We want to avoid this so we’re getting exactly what we’re after for the strength work.

Give the video below a quick look and we’ll be sure to address the nuances further at the workouts.
