Aaron V during Saturday’s front squat event at the Project Uplift Competition!

Today We Back Squat

Today’s back squat work is an alternating rep scheme of 4s and 8s. For 10 minutes we’ll work up to our starting weight by doing 3-4 sets of 3-5 reps each. There is no perfect way to work up in weight, some like larger sets, some like smaller. Think about what works for you and that will be the approach you take for the work-up. Once the 10 minutes is up and you’ve completed the 3-4 workup sets, we’ll start the clock and you’ll hit your opening 8 reps. For the first set of 4 you’ll add weight and hit those. Weight will come off, but hopefully will be a little heavier than your first set of 8, and so on.

Weight jumps today will be based on feel and how the previous set felt. It’s not science, it’s just squatting so don’t get too wrapped up in it! We’ll see you in there!!
