A Touch of Nostalgia

If you frequent crossfit.com….the mainsite as many call it….you noticed a really big change a few days ago. It was inevitable that this would happen. It’s cool, and it’s sad all at the same time. Over 10 years ago I was introduced to CrossFit by Gino, who had learned about it from Tyson. Gino took me into the Station 12 office one morning and pulled up crossfit.com on the computer. That gray, yellow, and white Typepad website was how it all started for us, as it was for many. As the years went on CrossFit grew and grew. Level 1s were held every weekend at multiple locations, the CrossFit Games went from The Ranch to The Home Depot Center, and Reebok jumped on board. CrossFit grew from a fringe exercise movement rooted in garages, fire stations, police academies, and military bases to a huge institution, and those who were really good at it went from the putting up the top numbers on the daily WOD comments section to competing to win a quarter of a million dollars at the Games. For being good at exercising. Just kidding. Kind of. It’s pretty amazing how far things have come. But somehow the mainsite stayed the same through all of the growth. Until now.

It was only a matter of time, and I guess the time has come. The new crossfit.com is cool, check it out if you haven’t. But many of you will always have a fond place in your heart for that plain old website. I know I will.
