Benching makes you awesome.
Today’s skill we’ll work on the breathing ladder. You can check out a good write up here. As it’s written today, you’ll pick up a KB, swing it for 1 rep, put it down, and take a breath. Then you’ll do 2 reps, put it down, and take 2 breaths, then 3 reps followed by 3 breaths. This will continue up to 10 reps, then back down to 1. The kicker…you can only take that breath through your nose. This is the challenge of it. Why do it? Here you go (from the above referenced article):
1) You will find yourself calmer, much more so than otherwise
2) You will enter a state which is best described as autonomic dissociation, where the link between your physical symptoms and mental state becomes dysregulated… you won’t care you’re uncomfortable
3) Your ability to ‘use’ air will immediately increase
Try it out today and see what you think!
