I know that this was the talk of the town over the last couple of days. If you hadn't heard about it, the short of it is one of the top performers during WOD 13.2 was judged and had his score validated by an affiliate. After the fact, a video of his workout came out and the majority of his reps didn't meet the minimum movement standards for the WOD as defined by CrossFit HQ. When all was said and done, his score was not accepted, he's out of the Open, and the box where he did his WOD can no longer judge open workouts or validate scores. This is unfortunate on a variety of levels.

We know that it can be redundant to go over the movement standards for every heat. We know it can be boring to hear the same "these may be your friends but today you're the judge and a no-rep is a no-rep" speech before every workout you judge, even if you've been doing it all day long. We know you've been doing CrossFit for 2 years and you completely understand what it means to have the bar extended overhead, open your hips with your feet on top of the box, etc. We get it, but it's important to us that we're very clear on what's expected of everyone. It represents our integrity and our reputation. And it also represents you, the entire Evolve crew, whether you're throwing down with the hope of moving on, or if this is simply how you break a sweat every day. 

Tonight we hear what 13.3 is going to be…get ready to here the "today you're a judge" speech again!!!

  1. Well said. I am very proud to be an Evolver.
    Our standards and expectations are set high for a reason. You hit it right on the head when you said “integrity and reputation”. Everyone knows that’s why Evolve is so awesome.
    For me, its not just a good thing to be respectful of just during the open WODs. . . but during all the other competitions throughout the year, and when we visit other gyms. The amount of No-Reps and coaches cues should be low, because we train at that level. Shorting the rep, is shorting yourself!
