Full house on Saturday!

Lots of you are using the new year to dial in your nutrition, and that''s awesome. If you do it right and stay with it, we promise it will change everything for you. I had a few questions on Saturday regarding lower energy levels, and we've gotten these in the past. When you clean things up and start eliminating some foods, specifically grains and sugars from your diet, there's a period of time where you feel hungry all the time, and for many feel a little cranky. Your body has been accustomed to several daily blood sugar spikes and it's wondering where they've gone. You'll get through it!

However, when people clean up their diet, often times, either on purpose or inadvertantly, they also head to low-carb. Drastically reducing carbohydrates can be feasible in some instances, but if you're hitting WODs and doing other physical activities daily, chances are you're going to feel like crap if you cut them by too much. When you cut out things like cereals, grains, crackers, sugar, etc, you have to replace it with lots of fresh vegetables and some fruit. Eating steak and avacado for every meal is good, but you're missing an important part.

Robb Wolf has recently written two pieces on his blog: Low Carb and Paleo: My Thoughts Part 1 and My Thoughts on Low Carb and Paleo: Part Deux. After the first piece, there was a lot of backlash from folks who didn't read the article carefully enough and who made some assumptions that were incorrect. In part 2, Robb addresses those comments (and those people) which is awesome. Take a look at these articles written by one of the experts and see if what you've been doing is in line!
