Andrew mobilizing to get those elbows high!

Last night CrossFit went even more prime time than ESPN2 with a couple of commercials played during the NFC Playoff Game (Go New York Football Giants!!!). Those commercials were pretty cool but I wondered what someone who never heard of CrossFit would see if they followed the link to www.reebok.com so I headed there to check things out.

Once there I could watch a couple versions of the commercial. I could also click on a page that showed me the WOD from the mainsite. I was happy to see a link at the bottom of that taking curious souls to the "Find a CrossFit Box by You" page, but it wasn't a hyperlink so you had to work – cut and paste - to get there. I could also shop for gear like sneakers and apparel.

This journey's getting interesting. As I think about it and what it will mean not only for our box but for CrossFit as we know it, I'm surprised that more of the larger corporations haven't catered to the ready-made market CrossFit has generated before this. I've heard various rumors that some have tried, and it didn't work for whatever reason, but Reebok is kind of big. When I was in high school I had a pair of white Reebok high tops with the velcro across the top – anyone remember those? It was cool to tight roll your jeans with them. Don't judge me, it was New Jersey after all. I digress. So with all of this marketing, I wonder what's going to happen with our scene. I don't think that Reebok will swoop into Fort Collins and tag the wall of our gym or give us free shoes, so it probably won't be anything that obvious, but I do wonder what the more subtle changes will be.

Anyway, share your thoughts if you have an opinion on this, we'd like to hear what you guys think. In the meantime, here's a couple of versions of that new CrossFit Reebok commercial. I do think it's cool to see what you guys do everyday in the box represented in a TV commercial that shows everyone just how bad-ass you truly are!
