Rest Day – unless you're running a marathon today. Good luck Kelley D!

Damien, the best rower around!

Great Saturday WOD, everyone worked hard! As an added bonus, Jim shared some cool down stretches he learned when he and Dollie visited back east. We always ask that if you guys travel and hit up WODs at other gyms, come back and tell us what you liked and what you'd like to see us try. Evolve is a mash-up of things we've learned from other boxes we've worked out at and visited. We took what we thought worked, threw in some of our own personal touch, and Evolve is what we got.

Jim and Dollie worked out at CrossFit 215 (www.crossfit215.com) in Phili where they learned some static mobility developed by One Four Four One (www.onefourfourone.com). Check out what Jim shared with us Saturday and give it a try:

  1. HEY EVERYONE!! I found this cool thing from the Denver Crossfit….Door to Door Organics. Check out their website. Sounds like a great deal and you don’t have to go to the store for veggies and fruit each week….they bring it to you!
    Warmly,
    Wendy

  2. Wendy,
Dollie just started doing that and the quality seems great, and the prices reasonable. The cool thing is that you get to pick, instead of get what they give you. I have been looking for alternatives since dealing with Grant and their veggie order. I have not been all that impressed. I think the local restaurants and stores get all the best stuff.
With that said ,everyone should know that Sunrise Ranch Grass Fed Beef will start taking orders for next summer starting January 1. I hesitate to tell everyone since their harvest is usually small, but their beef is the best I have tried, and if I would want anyone to have it, it would be those at Evolve. I will be ordering a whole cow with another family, but if your interested, now is the time to start thinking about ordering. http://www.sunriseranch.org
And if your are interested in bison, I should be receiving half a bison here in the next few months (I am splitting that with the same family) from Mile High Bison. http://www.mhbison.com This is the first time I am doing this, so I will let you know. I would have the bison now, but they got out, had to be tracked down, and missed their processing date. Pretty funny.
In the past I have ordered beef from Lasater beef. http://www.lgbeef.com Great beef, reasonably priced, and they ship free to you if you live in Colorado. I just like the taste of Sunrise.
Dollie and I have like 1/3 of our net worth tied up in meat in our freezers, so if anyone would like to try some of this beef let me know. I must have 60-70lbs of grassfed ground beef alone lying around.

  3. Jim and Wendy – great timing on these posts. We’ve been looking at door to door too, as we are also pretty let down with Grant CSA. I agree 100% with Jim: the best stuff from Grant is going to Whole Foods, restaurants and farmers markets. While I had hoped to support the grown local paradigm, I can’t eat beets and chard for every meal and waiting until October to get my first tomatoes was kind of a let down when the farmers markets had tons and all of my friends with container gardens on the back porch were already just about sick of eating tomatoes!
We’ve decided to try other approaches next year and the door to door seemed pretty compelling. Thanks for the info and happy eating, everyone.
