What a great weekend, it's tough to put to words! The Colorado Open at Front Range CrossFit was a fantastic time. Though our contingency was small, we had a blast (it's not about being big, it's about being awesome, right Kelley D!!)! 4 tough WODs over 2 days tested everyone there. We saw lots of old friends and made plenty of new ones. The one thing about the CrossFit community is that everyone you meet, you already have this cool thing in common that makes it feel like you've known each other for years. It felt like home!

We had several Evolve athletes come down both days to watch what was going down – thanks to you guys, it's always good to have support from the family. I'd say the one thing we all took away from the weekend is that it makes you hungry. You finish and you play the "what if" game. And by the time you pull out of that parking lot you're already planning the changes to your training to work on the weeknesses that were exposed. So when you see that little bit extra from those who were there, that's where it came from. Feed off of it, it will make us all better.

There were lots of photos taken, so look for those to be posted here. Here's how things finished for our folks:

Garcia, 12th overall

Mikey Sax, 59th overall

Juli, 29th overall (always part of the family Juli!)

Kelley D, 38th overall

Great job everyone, your hard work paid off!!!

  1. Great job everyone! I’m so proud to be a Evolve athlete with scores like that:) So sad we missed the events this weekend, next time for sure!!! Congratulations to everyone who threw down.

  2. And I already know how my legs will feel…. like jelly (I had about 10 other words in mind but this is the cleanest). Four rounds of 400m- EMBRACE THE SUCK:)

  3. Now in regards to the workout…..have you seen the video of Spealler doing it? He considered the squats his rest! WTF is wrong with some people

  4. That’s right, Coach… I mean Jon….. I mean Friend!!!!!!!!
LOL. This weekend was AWESOME. I am more motivated now then ever before…. even though I can’t walk… haha. Can’t wait to get back in the box this week and tear it up!! 🙂

  5. you 4 represented evolve very well! and the wod today, lets just say i know i will be in pain afterwards, however I will still be there to finish!!!

  6. Don’t forget about Juli’s Jon who finished 38th overall!
    Great job everyone!
Such a fun weekend, and a great way to measure up against some tough competition.
Like I was telling Jon on the way home, it was just enough of a picker-upper to keep me excited to do more, and at the same time it was just enough of a humbling kick in the cajones to keep me inspired as well.
Can’t wait to get back in the box and get back to work (although I may have flash backs and start twitching if I see another 55lb kettlebell within the next week)
Until then, you guys enjoy those burpee box jumps! 😉

  7. I think I’ll be alright with the kettlebells Ryan, but if a 45 lb slam ball shows up I may curl into the fetal position and start to cry.

  8. Haha I actually had a dream lastnight that a big, green, 55lb kettle bell kicked my @$$….oh…wait…that was NOT a dream!

  9. Ahhh, I can’t believe I didn’t post Jon Moffit’s placement – sorry Jon! That’s what a couple drinks and a huge plate of steak tacos will do to you! I just wanted to get to bed.
As for kettlebells, if we ever get the comp ones we’ll paint em pink or something because green makes me feel bad!

  10. Strong work everybody! You are my heros. I start the fire academy this week, so I won’t be at the box for about 4 months. I really want to thank all of you for inspiring me to become better in all aspects of life. I’ve learned a lot from all of you and can truly say that Crossfit has changed me as a person. I will embrace A LOT OF SUCK over the next 4 months, and I know I can do it thanks to all of you. Keep throwin down, keep improving! I’ll miss you guys. See ya in December!

  11. Way to go Evolvers! I was at the Colorado Open in spirit … Take care of yourselves and keep up the great work.
    Good luck, Craig.
