Kelley and Carol working the hang clean!

On Saturday July 21st at 9am, our friends Blake and Amos at CrossFit Battle Ready in Greeley ( will be hosting their second Battle Ready Open. This is a one day event where athletes will participate in 3 WODs testing all aspects of fitness. The event is free to members of CrossFit affiliates.

As was the case last year, this event is inclusive of ALLfitness levels. If you've ever thought you might like to compete in the CrossFit games, or maybe the Colorado Open this fall, this is a great event to help you prepare. If you're newer to CrossFit, that's OK – this event is for everybody. We encourage all of the Evolve athletes to sign up and step up to a new challenge. If you're interested, let Gino or Jon know and we'll get you signed up. If you know for sure that you don't want to compete, that's OK too. Consider coming down and supporting your fellow Evolvers! Events like this are inspiring whether you're competing or watching! Let's represent Evolve!

  1. Bummer, would love to compete in this to see how far I have come since 09, but I will be in Quantico Virginia playing Marine for 2 weeks. I can think of several Evolve athletes that should go compete though!

  2. Random side note: I have on the calendar that Tyson is coaching the 6am and 9am WODs on Tuesday, and the 4pm and 5pm WODs on Thursday. Just checking to make sure this is still correct. THANKS!

  3. I would love to do it!! That would be such good experience!
I wish i was going to be at the box for this wod tomorrow 🙁 have fun everyone!

  4. I am making a new playlist myself and am looking for some suggestions! Everyone should post their top 3 fav workout songs.

  5. Cool Ryan!! We’re gonna have all kinds of jams to rock out to now!
Hey Gene or Jon, I wasn’t sure, but i looked at CR BattleReady and their date of their open says July 31st instead of the 21st. Just wanted to let you know!

  6. Yes, it is the 31st sorry for the typo. Now you have no excuses Ryan! Can I put my top 3 in as a Coach? If so, put me down for Sound of Madness by Shinedown, Beirut by Burning The Day, and Til’ I Collapse, by Eminem and Nate Dog.

  7. Run This Town – Jay-Z
    Stronger – Kanye West
    Business – Eminem
Skew it on the Barbie – Outkast
Sorry, I can’t count to three I guess!

  8. Wind Beneath my Wings – Bette Middler
All Out of Love – Air Supply
I Write the Songs – Barry Manilow
I’m so ashamed. Don’t judge me.

  9. Rock That Body..Black Eyed Peas
    Battleflag…Lo Fidelity Allstars
    Can’t think of a third.
I am looking into the 31st!

  10. Jon, wow. Those are some inspiring tunes 😉 Off subject, but are you related to Joseph and Marguerite Mckeon?

  11. Today was my first day doing a WOD where I actually did the Double Unders and in round 4 I got 21 unbroken:) Super Excited.
Also: What I’ve Done- Linkin Park
    Bad Romance- Lady Gaga
Weird mix of music I listen to, so I wont waste anyone’s time with more of my choices. These were the ones I found that you all might not totally laugh at. 🙂 It totally depends on my mood!
I like the idea of hearing other peoples taste in music. I need some new music to get me motivated:)

  12. Jon–i have til i collapse by eminem too haha!
Shar–that is so so awesome about your double unders!! congratulations!
I think i may want to dance more than workout when i play my playlist….uh oh, oh well haha!

  13. Stanglehold – Ted Nugent
    Savior – Rise Against
    Psychsocial – Slipknot
But I do like Jon’s suggestion.

  14. Haha great tunes everyone!
Gene – I sent battleready an email today asking what I have to do to sign up, so I am in for the 31st!
Jon – Great selection of ballads you have there, throw some Enya into that mix and you have a recipe for some super motivation!
Sharla – Great job on the double unders!
I suppose I can submit some of my fav tunes…I listen to anything and everything, and it kinda depends on my mood as well, but my current top workout songs are:
Don’t Sweat The Technique – Eric B And Rakim
    Hero – NAS
Working Day And night – Michael Jackson
    Go Baby – Lupe Fiasco
