Meet Tyson (with Paige and Jake)!

Evolve Athletes, please welcome Tyson! Many of you know Tyson as an athlete, he's also a Level 1 CrossFit trainer and will be helping out with coaching WODs. We've know Tyson for a long time, he's like family, and we're very excited (and lucky) to have him. Here's some background info:

Hello there, my name is Tyson.  I work with Gene and Jon as a firefighter with PFA, and I have also been in the “fitness industry” for around 10 years now.  I started at CSU earning a degree in Health and Exercise Science.  After college, I worked for a company selling fitness equipment, and shortly thereafter, I moved on to personal training at a Globo Gym.  While training, I heard about CrossFit and thought I would give it a try.  I was immediately hooked and began to pass the word around to all of my firehouse co-workers.  The rest, as they say, is history.

After experiencing many benefits from CrossFit myself and seeing the changes it has made in other people’s lives, I have become a believer in the CrossFit program and its philosophies.  Constantly varied and functional movements done properly can benefit anyone in any walk of life.  My wife recently started CrossFit, thanks to the new Evolve Gym.  In the past, she did not enjoy lifting weights, and often avoided it.  Now she can’t wait for the WOD’s and loves to challenge herself with new movements.  When my 3-year-old son wakes up from his nap, he asks if we can go to the Evolve gym to exercise.  I love that my family will grow up in a healthy atmosphere that will challenge them and teach them to take care of their bodies.  I am also thankful that Gene and Jon have given me the opportunity to carry on their passion of CrossFit as a trainer in their gym.  My hope is to be an encouraging coach to all CrossFitters and create a comfortable environment to learn and grow.

Welcome Tyson!

  1. You may not recognize Tyson when you see him. He no longer has the stylish and fashionable handle bar mustache. But we love him anyway!

  2. I am actually more jealous of the shark costume his son is wearing…however…the costume PLUS a handle bar stache would increase cool points 10 fold.

  3. Right On Tybo! CF Evolve is evolving already, now we have three top-notch coaches. It just keeps getting better and better. Stache or no stache, you the man.

  4. Shark suit, handle bar mustache, and Vibrum 5 fingers! Now were talking real cool points, right Ryan? Great job to everyone on the Overheads today.

  5. Oh man…I dunno if the world is ready for THAT much coolness all at once…but I like where your mind is at.
Saw the time improvements for all of the remaining foundation class cross-fitters…way to go everyone! Both Carols put down some amazing improvements from their previous times! Keep up the good work!
For those of you that weren’t there to witness it today, unless we get someone to donate their SUV, or family size winnebago for Gene to over head squat with, we will never know his one rep max, as he was making large amounts of weight look like a warm up this morning.

  6. Ryan, you must not have heard the rules. You are not allowed to drink and then write a post. Reading your last post you sounded intoxicated or under the influence of a mind altering drug.
