Saturday 100417

Saturday is FUN DAY! And It's Katie M's and Gino's Birthday! Happy birthday guys, this one's for you!

Workout will be dependent on how many people show up. It will be a pacer workout. For example, there will be several movements that will occur as someone rows a prescribed distance, for example. Once the distance is reached, everyone rotates and all do a movement until the distance is met, so on  and so on. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Doesn't Shar look happy!!!

That is my (Gino) wife Sharla in an old pair of jeans that she wore as recently as this past October that, at that time, had a "snug" fit. Shar has been doing CrossFit since last July and was working her tail off. However, she did not loose a single pound, not one! It was frustrating for her since that was one of her fitness goals. When I came back from our Level I cert at the end of November, I shared with her the Zone diet and we agreed as a family to try it. She has been loosing weight ever since and achieving physical feats that she never thought were possible. She ran 9 miles without stopping for the first time this past Easter, lost a total of 25 pounds, she got her first kipping pull-up April 15th, and she will be running her first half-marathon next month. The crazy thing is that she is only about 50 – 60% accuratete with the Zone and they encourage people to try and hit the 80% mark. I am so proud of my wife and she is an inspiration to me and a constant example of courage and determination.

The point here is to illustrate how important nutrition is. CrossFit is great, but you will not reap the full benefits that it can provide without proper nutrition, "fuel". Shar is a perfect example of this. I encourage you to talk with Shar about her experiences with CrossFit and her nutrition. I can't wait to see what she is capable of next. Just imagine what she could do if she hit the 80% mark! You are my CrossFitin' mama and love you for that!

and thanks to everyone for your comments..you’re all too kind! I appreciate and enjoy everyone’s help in working towards reaching my goals. Thanks Gene for the nice story, you are my inspiration and are the key to keeping me on track. I would NOT have gotten this far without you! I love you and the CrossFit Evolve Family too:)

  3. Strong work Shar. You truly are further proof of just how much Crossfit changes lives. Keep up the awesome work!!
Happy birthday to all. I have one question, where are the birthday WOD’s?

  4. I love this! This is why Jon and I wanted to do this. To change peoples lives, just like it has changed our own. In the short time we have been open we have seen so many amazing transformations in people and seeing them do truly amazing things. Keep up the great work everyone, and Katie, you will be getting a kipping pull-up this week!

  5. The birthday WODs weren’t set until we saw how many folks would be there. There was a pacing WOD for katie with lot’s of sets of 35. Gino’s was a special one with lots of 34’s! Both were mad at me when done, but I thought it was a great present!
