When looking at your current fitness program, consider the impacts on health when assessing the effectiveness. In a well-known CrossFit Journal Article from October 2002 titled What is Fitness?, measureable values of health were placed on a curve that ranges from sickness to wellness to fitness. When looking at factors such as blood pressure, body fat, bone density, triglyceride levels, choleserol (good and bad), flxibility, muscle mass, etc., they can be used to look at a single quality – health. For example, most would agree that a blood pressure of 170/100 would be considered a health risk to say the least, 120/70 would be considered normal, and 100/60 would be indicitive of an athlete. The same value comparisons could be made for all the other factors listed. The article states that fitness should be "super-wellness". That is, your fitness program should be making you healthy. Guess what's included as part of the fitness program? Nutrition! It all works together. So think about what you've got going on. Are you getting fitter? Healthier? You're working your tail off during the WODs? What's going on the other 23 hours of the day?
