It’s Supposed to be Fun

The first Foundations Class, minus Katie and Carol.

Yesterday was the first Foundations Session at Evolve. The group did awesome, and we're excited to help them start on their journey. There was some apprehension in the beginning for some athletes, as you would expect when someone takes on something they're not entirely sure about. That's why the Foundations Session exist. This is a great way to ease into CrossFit by learning to perform the movements safely and efficient, and to get comfortable with the group workouts. As the sessions progress, the athletes will see that some of the movements become more complex, and the workouts will become a little tougher as they incorporate some of their new skills. That's good, CrossFit is supposed to be hard. But it's also supposed to be fun. It's a great place to get to when you go as hard as you can during a workout and afterwords you say to yourself "that was fun"! It takes a little while for some people to get there, but they will. The athletes in this class are creating a bond that will last a lifetime. When people go through things together, there's a cohesiveness that develops. Just like people who attend boot camp, the fire academy, the police academy, or play on a team together, they've been through a challenge together and it makes them tight. And that's what we're after at Evolve – forging a community of fitness. So if you've been thinking about coming out and trying CrossFit, look for the next Foundations to start at the end of the month. Spring is coming and it's a great time to get started!
